Lee Tissot Brings Home the Checkers for the First Time This Season

Press Release- Race Report 6-13-08

Hudson, North Carolina (June 13, 2008) - Action began as soon as the first green flag dropped. With the Legend cars of 600 Racing putting on a crash filled contest and heavy controversy between drivers.  A three car pile up on the front stretch knocked the field down after 3 laps. After the restart the 63 of Christian Pahud and 48 of Steven Ross decided that they did not like each other and had a small demolition derby causing both cars to be black flagged for the night. Only four cars finished on lead lap with Kyle Beattie finishing first. Troy DeCaire, Jonathan Ross, Tanner Berryhill and Christian Pahud rounded out the top 5.

The Pepsi Limited Late Models showed little fight for position in the first 10 laps of the race, but on lap 12 Jason Franklin started the show by passing Bill Cassavaugh for second and making his way to get to Jason Crouse and battled Crouse for the lead, eventually taking the lead on lap 17 to never look back.  Side by side battles occurred back in mid pack with the final five run down as Scott Franklin, Jason Crouse, Tyler Church, Mike Eplee and Bill Cassavaugh.

The Carolina Vintage car club came over to put on a show with old NASCAR style race cars. V8 and V6 cars joined together to show off some of NASCARS past history. Kenny Webb with his orange and white 77 car came across the finish line first.

In the Baton Tire Street Stock class, David Smith started inside pole and could only hold on for a short while. Jeff Sparks brought his car through the pack quickly taking first and never looking back.  Terrence Tucker followed Sparks to come in second. Chris Townsend and Marshall  Sutton started deep in the pack and both made quick time getting through the pack Townsend finishing in third and Sutton finishing 6th. Waylon Flynn and David Smith rounded out the top five.

The Super Trucks had a 10 lap dash fielding only 2 trucks for the event.  Dexter Canipe Jr led by a small margin beating Jay Norville to the finish line.

The Thunder Roadsters from 600 Racing put on a show. The Roadsters, a low scaled open wheel racing car put on a show with multiple passes from second back through the pack.  Adam Welch gained first place on the first lap and never looked back. Michael Van Winger, Taylor Hull, Jim Fluharty, and Currie Pierce rounded out the top five.

During the Red Baron Race Parts Hobby Stock class, Brad Hasson put his car in the wall before the race even started.  When the race finally started, Dave Hasson wasted little time working his way from the back to the front and led all 20 laps.  Jimmy Whisnant and Scott Bumgarner battled for second and third place with Carroll McKinney staying close behind. Micky Canipe rounded out fifth place.

The Late Model race had a four car invert moving the pole sitter Andy Loden to fourth and putting Sam Watts on the inside pole.  Lee Tissot sat behind Watts at the beginning of the race but passed early and never looked back.  RA Brown sat on the outside pole but with early car problems made his way to the back of the pack. Andy Loden stayed behind Watts until he had a chance to get his outside groove and make the pass for second on lap 25. Top five were Tissot, Loden, Watts, Todd Goble and Lucas Ransone.

The Road Rage class had plenty of action putting the wrecking show that all fans like to see. Luke Davis ended up getting the trophy and the win.

Next week there is no action at Tri-County Motor Speedway. June 27th will be the next week of action. Late Models, Pepsi Limited Late Models, Baton Tire Street Stocks, Red Baron Race Parts Hobby Stocks, East Coast Flat Head Fords and the Road Rage.
