Press
Release- Race Report 5-23-08
Hudson, North Carolina (May 23, 2008) - Tri-County
Motor Speedway showed why “Action is the Attraction” on
Friday night.The
early morning started with all the Allison Legacy cars showing
up early to get in some practice for their show later in the
evening.
The Baton Tire Street Stock division started the show off.
With no qualifying, just inverting the top six in points, that
put Josh Burchette up front to start the race.It did not take long for Chris Townsend to jump out and
take an early lead. Chris won the last two races in Street
Stock. After eighteen laps, Chris’ tires began to fade away and he
became very loose coming out of the turns. This allowed for
Terrence Tucker in the #42 to catch up and take the lead all
the way to the finish. Top five included Tucker, Kevin Eby,
Jeremy Pelfrey, Chris Townsend and Jonathon Smith.
The Allison Legacy Series was next in line for the show.Early battles for position caused just two cautions in
the race taking the #36 of Paul Beckner out of the race in the
second caution of the night. The #52 of Austin Hogue, from
Manchester, PA came across the finish line first with the #68
of Michael Cooper out of Pittsboro, NC coming in close behind.Tayla Orleans, Justin Allison and Timmy Hill rounded
out the top five.
The Red Baron Race Parts Hobby Stocks fielded just three
cars. Start and finishing order was Ronnie Sims, Jimmy
Whisnant and Carroll McKinney.
After the dice roll in the Pepsi Limited Late Models, Josh
Wright dropped back to fourth position putting Nathan
Dellinger up front with Bill Cassavaugh on the outside. It did not take long for Bill to get out with an early
lead. Dexter Canipe, Jr. had trouble in the early going
getting his way back up to Cassavaugh. With a caution on lap 25, Dexter Canipe, Jr. got right
in behind Cassavaugh and Wright was in hot pursuit as well.Cassavaugh came across the finish line getting the
checkered flag with Canipe, Jr., Wright, Scott Franklin and
Steve Parris rounding out the top five.
The NASCAR Whelen Late Models had Andy Loden taking the
pole with a 16.459 and rolling a four on the dice put RA Brown
down on the inside pole and Clint Almquist on the outside
pole. RA Brown did not waste any time in getting out and
stealing the spotlight for the rest of the competitors.RA led all the way to the checkers. The back of the pack held lots of action with drivers
Chrissy Wallace, Matt DiBenedetto, Lee Tissot, Andy Loden,
Clint Almquist and Grant Wimbish battling for spots 3-8.
Finishing order in the Late Model race: RA Brown, Lucas
Ransone, rookie Grant Wimbish, Andy Loden and Matt DiBenedetto.
Road Rage finished off the show with Jimmy Stockton coming
across the finish line first.
