Located in Western North Carolina, Tri-County Motor
Speedway is a 4/10 mile banked asphalt track racing weekly on Friday night
as it has for most of it's existence. A NASCAR Home Track facility,
TCMS features Late Models as it's premier division and has been a proving
ground for many of today's rising talents.

Release- Race Report 5-2-08

Hudson, North Carolina (May 2, 2008) - Whelen Night
at the races lived up to the tracks slogan “Where Action is
the Attraction”. With Chrissy Wallace taking the pole with a
16.348 in the late models. Sam Watts lead the field down to
the green over his teammate Chrissy Wallace. On lap ten Lee
Tissot took the lead over Sam Watts.
Steadily through out the race Tissot pulled away with
Wallace Battling her teammate Watts for second. On lap 42 Andy
Loden and Wallace did the cross over move to each other but
finally Loden was able to settle in second. Then on lap 47
Tissot had mechanical problems and had to give up the lead
with Watts taking it over with a hard charging Loden trying to
take first. Coming to the checkers it was side by side between
Loden and Watts. Sam Watts was able to hold on to the win by
half a car length. It was his first win in late Model Stock
cars and he was proud to hoist the trophy above his head. The
top five was rounded out by Loden, Wallace, R.A. Brown and
Josh Goble.
The
Pepsi Limited Late Models started off with a bang. Brian Stahl
and Chaz Anderson made contact with each other and both
slammed the Turn three wall, both drivers walked away from
this horrific crash. Bill Cassavaugh, Dexter Canipe Jr, and
Jason Crouse battled side by side for several laps. Bill
Cassavaugh crossed the finish line with a several car lead. He
was followed by Jason Crouse in second, Dexter Canipe Jr. in
third , Mike Eplee finished fourth, and Nathan Dellinger
crossed the line in fifth.
In
the Baton Tire Street Stocks Kevin Eby lead the field down but
after a big wreck on the front straight away with the David
Smith and Chris Townsend on the restart Jeremy Pelfrey jumped
out to the lead. While the race progressed into the late
stages of the race Terrance Tucker was able to pass Kevin Eby
for second as they rundown the leader. Pelfrey had mechanical
problems with four to go so had to come to the pits. While all
that happened Kevin Eby was able to slip around Terrance
Tucker and take the win.
The
Red Baron Race parts Hobby Stocks had a first time winner at
the speedway Roger Pitts Jr. Wayne Harrington, Chad Miller,
Stephen Clipard and Jimmy Whisnant rounded out the top 5.
