Hudson, NC (March 23, 2007) - Mark Setzer knew going
into this season he is driving a car capable of winning and
any race car driver loves that feeling. Setzer and his Mitch
West Motorsports team is looking for a place to race in
between starts in the UARA series, after Friday night they
might have found that at Tri-County Motor Speedway Friday
night.
After starting from the pole and leading laps in the UARA
race a week ago, Setzer was able to hold off Junior Franks for
the win in the 75-lap late Model stock feature in the
season-opening night at TCMS. Defending track champion Ricky
Bryant followed in third with Monty Cox and Bruce Green
completing the top-five. Cox also competed in the Pepsi
Super Stock division where he held off Steve Parris for the
win. Although Cox has moved up to full-time competition in the
late model division he will race periodically in the Pepsi
Super Stock division where he won the title a year ago. Scott
Franklin finished third with Brandon Day and Billy Worley
finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.
Canadian Kevin Eby won the Street Stock feature with David
Smith and Gary Dietz also collecting podium finishes. After
becoming the first female driver to win a championship last
season, Nikki Long picked up where she left off winning the
Baton Tire Fast ’n Furious race. Stephen Shore and Denver
Jones completed the top three.
The Limited division returned to TCMS for the first team in
three years with Brandon Cox scoring the win. Brandon Cox was
followed by a pair of fifteen year-old drivers with Daryl
Wallace, Jr. and Jonathan Divo finishing second and third in
their first starts at TCMS.
Defending Mini Stock champion Doug Setzer won his feature
with Jeff Banks winning the Tri County Minis race. Jimmy
Stockton won the Road Rage feature.
