Junior Franks Picks Up First Win at Tri-County
By Pat Simmons
Hudson, NC (August 19, 2005) - Junior Franks picked
up his first win of the season in the Late Model Stock event
at Tri-County Motor Speedway
Friday night. Franks passed Jimmy Doyle
with only seven laps to go, but leading the final lap is the
one that counts.
Doyle and Franks, who started fourth, were one-two after
the drop of the green and Doyle was able to gain an advantage,
but tire problems slowed his lap times and worked to Franks’
advantage.
The win was the first for Franks at TCMS, but definitely
not the first in his career. He has been
racing for over 20 years and has picked up countless wins.

With Franks taking the checkers and Doyle second, Josh
Goble was third, Nick Waycaster fourth and Jacky Workman
fifth.
Rock Harris was sixth, Jimmy Rice seventh, John Reynolds
eighth, Bobby DeCola ninth and Jackie Buckner was tenth.
Scott Franklin is on a roll in the Pepsi Super Stock
Challenge ranks and picked up another win after starting in
the seventh starting spot. Kaleb Pressley was the runner-up in
second with Monty Cox was third, Brian Stahl fourth and
Russell Goforth fifth.
In the Hudson Superette Street Stocks, Jesse LeFevers
picked up another win with Josh Burchette second, Ernie Harris
third, Kevin Eby fourth and Bill Lett fifth.
A.J. Sanders claimed another trophy in the Mini Stocks with
Hank Hefner second after the two put on a great battle. Randy
Canipe was third, Scott Whittington fourth and Archie Sanders
was fifth.
In the Fast and Furious, Jeff Poston got the win after
chasing David Hasson for most of the race and making several
challenges for the lead.
Hasson had to settle for second with Stephen Clippard was
third, Kenny Nix fourth and Kenny Watts fifth.
The Tri-County Minis had an exciting finish as Jeff Banks
picked up the win as Travis Cook and Tony Taylor came sliding
across the finish line facing the wrong direction.
Matt Sizemore was second, Cook was third, Tim McRae fourth
and Bethany Bagwell had her best finish so far in fifth.
