Pepsi Sponsors Season Opener

Hudson, NC (April 11,2005)---Pepsi-Cola
Bottling Company of Hickory has joined Tri-County Motor
Speedway in Hudson, NC, for the 2005 season and has come
aboard as the sponsor of the season opening Pepsi 250 on
Friday, April 15th.
Pepsi and track owner/promoter Russ
Leicht inked the deal last week.
Pepsi is sponsoring the entire event, consisting of a
150 lap Late Model Stock event, the Pepsi Super Stock, Street
Stock, Mini Stock, Fast and Furious, and the Tri-County
Mini’s will also be on the card for the evening.
Tri-County Motor Speedway is proud of
their partnership with Pepsi, who will also be the sponsor of
the Super Stock division for the season and the name will
become the Pepsi Super Stock Challenge for the full sized V-8
powered racers.
Pepsi has stepped up to the plate as our
sponsor for the first race of the season and will play an
important role with the track as sponsor of the Pepsi Super
Stock Challenge division. Pepsi is a popular brand with the fans and we are happy to
provide their products. Working
with Sammy Burnett has been a great experience and I look
forward to our involvement in the future,” says Russ Leicht,
owner and promoter of TCMS. “I am sure Pepsi will enjoy
working with the fine drivers we have in the Super Stock
class.”
Pepsi has long been associated with the
sport of auto racing and has been involved in every level of
racing from the weekly short tracks to the Nextel Cup ranks.
“We are happy to be associated with Russ and Tri-County
Motor Speedway this season.
We are excited to be there and to be the sponsor for
the Super Stock division and we feel it is an excellent way to
showcase our products,” commented Sammy Burnett, the East
Division Sales Manager of Pepsi-Cola Bottling in Hickory.
The 4/10th mile asphalt hosts racing on Friday
nights, beginning April 15th and running weekly
until September 30th. There will be racing in seven different divisions with
various special events such as the Allison Legacy Series and
the USAC Ford Focus Midgets.
The
first race, the Pepsi 250, will be a 150 laps for the Late
Models with $3000 to win on April 15th.
Pits open at 4:00pm with grandstands opening at 6:00pm.
Practice starts at 6, qualifying at 7 and the green
flag flies at 8:00pm.
