Dexter Canipe Jr. in LM Win from Pole

Hudson, NC (July 9, 2004) - Crash and Bash night was deemed a success by Tri-County Motor Speedway officials as a packed house had thrills, spills and fireworks to entertain throughout the evening.

The Tuscon Late Model event went to Dexter Canipe, Jr., who started from the pole.  Canipe jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.  Jay Gerst chased Canipe the entire night and completed the race in second with Rock Harris third, and Josh Goble in fourth.  Bill Cassavaugh broke into the top five with fifth.  Dennis Gallion was sixth, Jacky Workman seventh, Steven Woody eighth, John Reynolds ninth and Ray Short was tenth.  There were six cautions during the event.

Kevin Eby also started from the pole and found his way to victory lane in the Street Stock feature.  Gary Ledbetter was Eby's bumper during the event but was unable to make the pass and had to settle for second.  Jody Mitchum was third, Gary Deitz fourth and Jesse LeFevers fifth.

The Allison Legacy Series was on hand and Randleman's Mark Howard was first to cross the line to defend his record as the last winner at the speedway in his division.

In the Sack Race driver Danny Markham was able to take the win, after another driver was disqualified for taking off his sack. Several of the cars ended up crashing into the pit road barrier, causing a few tense moments.

Jonathon Smith was second and Jake Hodges third.

Jamie Fender took home the trophy in the 4-cylinder demolition derby  and for the second time in a row, the Forest City Boys took the V8 demolition derby with  Tracy Cook at the wheel.

In the camper trailer race Steve Henson was the only camper to make it every lap, giving him the win.

Next Friday night TCMS will host the USAC Ford Focus Midgets along with racing in all divisions.  For more information call the Speedway or check the web site.
