Harris Passes With 3 To Go For Catawba Valley 150 LM Win
Hudson, NC (June 11, 2004) - The Catawba Valley 150
Friday night at Tri-County Motor Speedway went down in history
with Rock Harris in victory lane. A field of 26 cars
came to Tri-County to bid for the chance to take home the
$3000.00 payday for the Tucson Late Models and Harris was
the one to collect the check.
Dexter Canipe, Jr. started from the pole and led the first
147 laps, but with only three laps remaining and the large
crowd on its feet and cheering, Harris made the pass for the
lead. There were numerous cautions, including one red
flag on lap 139 for a five car pile-up in turns one and
two, which collected Kyle Mansch, Nathan Dellinger, Bill
Cassavaugh, Mitch Walker and Andy Loden.
Loden had been among the front runners, along with Nick
Waycaster. Like Loden, Waycasters luck went bad with
only a few laps remaining. Loden was caught up in the
spin and Waycaster's engine went sour while holding a strong
fourth place. In the end Canipe would cross the line in
third, but was not able to make it through post race
inspection and was disqualified. Jay Gerst moved up to
second with Mark Setzer third, Josh Goble fourth and John
Reynolds, Jr. fifth. Tim Weaver was sixth, Steve Woody
seventh, Kyle Mansch eighth, Kris Bowen ninth and Tony Combs
tenth.
Jeff Hagaman once again dominated the Super Sport
event with Mark Livingston second, Donnie Buckner third,
Marshall Sutton fourth and Kevin Dill fifth.
Randy Canipe led flag-to-flag to take the win the Mini
Stock feature with Dennis Trviette second, Rickie Dennie
third, Scott Whittington fourth and Grant Wimbish fifth.
Street Stocks had a new winner as Gary Ledbetter took the
win in his second race of the season. Ledbetter is a
veteran from another speedway and comes with several
championships behind him.
Kevin Eby was second with Marshall Sutton third, Jesse
LeFevers fourth and Jeff Campbell fifth.
All results for the Super Sport, Street Stocks and Mini
Stocks are pending laboratory reports on tire compounds.
The speedway's management expects to release official
results by Wednesday or Thursday.
Stephen Clippard made it two in a row in the Fast &
Furious division for front wheel drive vehicles.
Adam Hatton was second.
Next Friday night TCMS will host Twin 30-lap Super Sport
features. All other divisions will have regular
features. Coming June 25th will be the famous Crash and
Bash Night. For more information contact the
speedway.
