Gerst Delivers Hot Racing Action For Cool Evening

Hudson, North Carolina (April 2, 2004) - Friday
night racing action at Tri-County Motor Speedway was hot,
although there was a chill in the air and a new Late model,
winner in victory lane.
Jay
Gerst claimed his first win after out distancing Kevin Leicht
at the end. Rock Harris was the early favorite, but had
a tire go down at the start of the race and had to pit
under green, losing valuable time. Gerst and Leicht held
first and second while Andy Loden worked his way into third.
Nick Waycaster was fourth. Josh Goble was fifth, Jacky
Workman sixth, Tim Weaver seventh, Rock Harris eighth, Bill
Cassavaugh ninth and Gary Travis was tenth.
In the Super Sport feature Monty Cox sailed away for the
win with Kevin Dill second, Marshall Sutton third, Donnie
Buckner fourth and Eric Greene was fifth.
A.J. Sanders was first to take the checkered flag in the
Mini Stock feature. Tim Canipe was second, Randy Canipe
was third, T.J. Canipe fourth and Scott Whittington was fifth.
In the Street Stocks David Smith was in place to take
the win after Jesse LeFevers and Marshall Sutton waged a
battle all race long and after taking the white flag got
together with Sutton suffering damage and LeFevers being sent
to the rear of the field.
David Manis followed Smith for second with LeFevers coming
back for third in the green white checkered finish. Mike
Newton was fourth and mike Hatton fifth.
Worley Robbins claimed his second Fast and FUrious win in a
row. followed by Adam Hatton in second and Stephen Clippard in
third.
In the USAC Midget event A.J. Davis was first to cross the
line wiht Chase Scott in second, Kevin Conway third, Mike Ward
fourth and Michael Soboro fifth.
Tri-County will be off for Easter weekend, but racing will
return on April 16th with a 50-lap Mini Stock feature and
regular racing in all other divisions. For more information
