Tri County Motor Speedway Opens 2004 Season Friday Night
Cars Plus Night Kicks Off Exciting Schedule
of Events for Caldwell County Track
Hudson, North Carolina (March 24, 2004) - It has
been a long, snowy and cold winter in the foothills of western
North Carolina, but things should begin to heat up nicely at
Tri County Motor Speedway this Friday night. The speedway
begins another season of hot racing action as Cars Plus Night
officially kicks off the 2004 season at the popular short
track located in Caldwell County.
All five regular season divisions will be in action with
the Tucson Late Models headlining the night with a 100-lap
feature. Rock Harris, last years track champion from the
Tucson Late Model division, returns to defend his track title
against some of the best drivers from across the Carolinas. In
2003, the division averaged over 20 cars per night and track
General Manager Jimmy Wilson expects the same level of
excitement this season for the division.
We enjoyed a great year in 2003, said Wilson. Tucson came
on board last season and really helped us take our Tri County
Late Model division to the next level. The Tucson Late Model
division should once again provide some great racing action
for our dedicated fans.
The Supersport, Mini Stock and Street Stock divisions also
return this season and will be in action Friday night as will
a new division to the speedway. A front-wheel drive,
four-cylinder division makes its debut Friday night and is one
Wilson feels will bring a new level of excitement to the
speedway, while also providing a race that is fun and
entertaining to the fans. The Fast & Furious division will
feature these strictly stock cars to the speedway for the
first time.
We are looking forward to this new division running at Tri
County Motor Speedway, added Wilson. We feel this is going to
be an affordable division for the competitors and something
the fans will enjoy seeing.
Cars Plus Night is made possible by Cars Plus of Lenoir.
The Caldwell County-based dealership has been a longtime
supporter of Tri County Motor Speedway and has worked
diligently with USAR to help keep short track racing alive in
Caldwell County. Cars Plus will once again furnish the
official pace car for the speedway and will be present this
Friday night.
